PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Located in the downtown commercial district of Pawtucket, RI, this project is a renovation and addition to an existing building once occupied by 19th century Progressive Spiritualists. The first level where a small congregation could gather opens up to a trussed ceiling above. The rear half of the structure was a one-story addition now expanded to included an upper level. Structural updates and repairs were required however and the main space was left intact to provide an open floor plan for the owners antique gallery.

The lower basement level was outfitted as a workshop for the preparation and restoration of new pieces for the gallery. A new stair was required to reach the second level and basement. A commercial steel stair set into a new floor opening with overheard skylight provides natural light to the showroom and the workshop below. The second level addition includes a master bedroom, bath and extends out onto a rooftop deck with solar shade structure.
